Classification of wrought aluminum alloy

There are many classification methods for wrought aluminum alloys. At present, most countries in the world usually classify them according to the following three methods.

1. According to the alloy state and heat treatment characteristics, it is divided into two categories: heat-treatable strengthened aluminum alloy and non-heat-treatable strengthened aluminum alloy. Heat-treatable aluminum alloys such as pure aluminum, Al-Mn, Al-Mg, Al-Si series aluminum alloys. Non-heat-treatable strengthened aluminum alloys such as Al-Mg-Si, Al-Cu, Al-Zn-Mg series alloys.

2. According to alloy properties and uses: industrial pure aluminum, brilliant aluminum alloy, cutting aluminum alloy, heat-resistant aluminum alloy, low-strength aluminum alloy, medium-strength aluminum alloy, high-strength aluminum alloy (hard aluminum), ultra-high-strength aluminum Alloy (super hard aluminum), forged aluminum alloy and special aluminum alloy, etc.

3. According to the main components contained in the alloy, it is divided into: industrial pure aluminum (1XXX series), Al-Cu alloy (2XXX series), Al-Mn alloy (3XXX series), Al-Si alloy (4XXX series), Al-Mg Alloy (5XXX series), Al-Mg-Si alloy (6XXX series), Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy (7XXX series), Al-Li alloy (8XXX series) and spare alloy group (9XXX series).

These three classification methods have their own characteristics, and sometimes cross each other and complement each other. In industrial production, most countries are classified according to the third method, which is based on the 4-digit number of the main elements contained in the alloy. This classification method can more essentially reflect the basic properties of the alloy, and is also convenient for coding, memory and computer management. Our country currently also uses the 4-digit digital method for classification.
