Several characteristics when bending-304 stainless steel plate

According to the bending characteristics of 304 stainless steel plates, generally speaking, you need to pay attention to the following points when bending:

1. In terms of unit size, the thicker the plate, the greater the required bending force. As the thickness of the plate increases, the greater the margin of the bending equipment.

2. In terms of unit size, the greater the tensile strength, the smaller the elongation, the greater the required bending force, and the greater the bending angle;

3. When the plate thickness in the design drawing corresponds to the bending radius, according to experience, the expansion size of the curved workpiece is the addition of the right-angled sides minus the two plate thicknesses, which can fully meet the design accuracy requirements. The formula for calculating the expansion amount based on experience can be Simplify the calculation process and greatly improve production efficiency;

4. The greater the yield strength of the material, the greater the elastic recovery. In order to obtain the 90-degree angle of the bent part, the required pressure angle should be designed smaller. Compared with carbon steel of the same thickness of stainless steel, the bending angle is larger and should be Pay special attention to this point, otherwise bending cracks will appear and affect the strength of the workpiece.

Characteristics of 304 stainless steel plate when bending:

1. Due to the high hardness of SUS304 stainless steel plate and the significant cold work hardening effect, when bending tools, tool steel with a heat treatment hardness of 60HRC or above is selected, and its surface roughness is one order of magnitude higher than that of carbon steel bending tools;

2. Due to the lower elongation of stainless steel plates compared to carbon steel, the bending angle R of the workpiece during bending should be greater than that of carbon steel, otherwise cracks may occur;

3. Because the thermal conductivity is lower than the elongation of ordinary low carbon steel, the required deformation force is large;

4. Stainless steel plates have a stronger rebound tendency than carbon steel when bent.
